Deputy Billy Wayne McIntosh was shot and killed when he answered a domestic violence call. He was off duty when he heard the call over the radio but was in the area so he responded. As he approached the front door of the house, the suspect shot him through the door. The suspect then shot and killed his wife.

The suspect is currently serving his sentence in Angola.

Deputy McIntosh had served with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office for 7 years. He is survived by his wife, Ginger; his parents, Foy and Cleta; and three sons, Matthew, Christopher and Gregory. Christopher and Gregory are currently employed with the CPSO in the Corrections Division. His father, Foy, retired from the CPSO in 2008 after 14 years of service.
