On June 8, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to Brown Road in Moss Bluff in reference to a burglary.
Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the complainant, Gilbert J. McComb, Jr., 30, 168 Brown Road, Moss Bluff, who advised while returning his neighbor’s lawnmower he had borrowed, he observed a man and woman at his neighbor’s house stealing property while the neighbors were not home.
During the investigation, CPSO detectives discovered several inconsistencies in McComb’s story. When questioned by detectives, McComb confirmed he was actually the person who broke into his neighbor’s home, stealing two iPhones and an iPod, worth approximately $1,000.
McComb was arrested on July 16 and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with unauthorized entry to inhabited dwelling; theft over $500; and simple criminal damage to property.
Judge Clayton Davis set his bond at $3,500.
The stolen iPod was recovered by detectives and returned to the victim.
CPSO Detective Deveda Benoit is the lead investigator on this case.
