CPSO Arrests Two for Possession of Marijuana and a Firearm

On July 20, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded after receiving a report from a man advising he had recently received numerous harassing and intimidating phone calls and text messages from Corey J. Leday, 22, 6153 Adele Street, Lake Charles, an ex-acquaintance.

During further investigation, deputies located Leday at his home.  When deputies spoke with him, they detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the home.

After receiving consent from Leday to search the home, deputies discovered a firearm, along with marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside a bedroom of the home.  Deputies also discovered three small children inside the home.

Leday and his wife, Serena F. Leday, also of 6153 Adele Street, Lake Charles, were both arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on July 21.  Both were charged with illegal use of CDS in the presence of persons under seventeen; possession of drug paraphernalia; and possession of a firearm in the presence of CDS.  Serena Leday was released on a $14,000 bond set by Judge Clayton Davis.

Corey Leday was additionally charged with harassing phone calls; and cyber stalking and released on a $34,000 bond set by Judge Clayton Davis.

CPSO Deputies Chris Daigle, Adam Wentzel, and Bryan Alexander were the arresting deputies in the case.
