CPSO ARRESTS 2 MORE IN CONNECTION WITH SHOOTING

Lake Charles –

In conjunction with the arrests of Austin J. Jones and Deante J. Shuffer in connection with the shooting that took place on November 30 in the 3600 block of North Perkins Ferry Road in Moss Bluff, detectives have also arrested Christopher W. Jones II, 22, 2234 Tulip Street, Lake Charles.

After continued investigations after the shooting, detectives learned Jones was possibly staying at a local motel in Lake Charles. On December 1 at approximately 10:00 p.m., when detectives arrived at the motel, they located Jones and he was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with attempted 1st degree murder; armed robbery; and armed robbery with the use of a firearm.

Judge Clayton Davis set his bond at $1.2 million.

On December 1, the detectives’ investigation also led them to the home of Ayana F. Johnson, 22, 2780 N. Addison Loop, Lake Charles. After a search of Johnson’s residence detectives located a stolen rifle, which is believed to have been used during the robbery. Detectives also located property that was stolen from the victim from the shooting and robbery on N. Perkins Ferry Rd.

Detectives have information that shows Johnson knew Jones was wanted by CPSO and provided detectives with false information, further hindering their investigation.

Johnson was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center and charged with accessory after the fact of attempted 1st degree murder; and accessory after the fact of armed robbery. She was released today on a $50,000 bond set by Judge Clayton Davis.

The investigation is continuing and more arrests are likely.

CPSO Detective Travis Lavergne is the lead investigator on this case.
