CPSO ARRESTS STUDENT WITH GUN AT SCHOOL

Lake Charles –

               

Earlier this morning at approximately 8:20 a.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officers at Molo Middle School in Lake Charles were notified in reference to a student who may be in possession of a handgun. 

           

During further investigation it was learned a gun, with one round in the chamber, was located in the 15 year old student’s backpack.  Further investigation revealed that at no time did the student make threats regarding the gun in his possession.     

               

The teen was arrested and charged with illegal carrying of a firearm in a school zone; and illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile.  He was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center.

             

The Calcasieu Parish School Board assisted with the investigation. 

 

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged.   A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
