Sgt. Nathan McKee | March 2021

In January, Sgt. Nathan McKee was working off duty security at a local grocery store in Lake Charles when he was approached by a man shortly after the store had closed.

During his conversation with the individual Sgt. McKee learned he was having issues with a prepaid phone that was bought from the store. The man also advised Sgt. McKee the phone was the only way he stayed in contact with his family.

Although the store was closed, Sgt. McKee took it upon himself to go inside and speak with a employee, who allowed the man to go inside and buy another sim card for his phone. Sgt. McKee also paid for the sim card himself, once he learned the only form of payment the individual had could not be accepted at that time.

McKee is shown below being congratulated by Sheriff Tony Mancuso after receiving a Commendation Pin for going above and beyond the call of duty.

Way to go Sgt. McKee!

Deputy Gary Fontenot | March 2021

Several months ago Deputy Gary Fontenot responded to a call at a local casino in Vinton in reference to a guest that was unresponsive.

Thanks to Deputy Fontenot's quick response, the victim is now doing well.

Deputies John Hays, Sabrina Hays, Crystal Plant | February 2021

In July 2020 the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office received several calls in reference to children playing in the roadway. Deputies would respond to find children playing basketball, but never blocking the roadway.

Overtime Deputy John Hays formed a relationship with the children and would go by to check on them or join in on their basketball games in between his calls and on his days off.

In December 2020, Deputy Hays along with Deputies Sabrina Hays and Crystal Plant, collected donations from other CPSO deputies and purchased a new basketball goal along with other goodies and delivered them to the children for Christmas.

They are pictured below with Sheriff Tony Mancuso after receiving a Commendation Pin for going above and beyond the call of duty.

Sgt. Chris Miller | February 2021

On Christmas Eve, 2020, CPSO deputies learned of a woman with several young children in need. The family had no money or place to stay and was unable to contact family members for help.

Deputy Chris Miller purchased items of necessity for the family and also took it upon himself to pay for a hotel for the family to stay in for a few nights.

He is pictured below with Sheriff Tony Mancuso, receiving a Commendation Pin for going above and beyond the call of duty.
